Marmara consists of 4 main regions:

• Eastern Marmara, the region where the Ottoman Empire began 700 years ago, includes historical cities characterized by white architecture amidst forests and lakes.
• Eastern Thrace (European Turkey), which is the western part of Turkey, that is, the part located west of the Bosphorus Strait, and it is the part that most belongs to the Balkans geographically and culturally.
• Istanbul Province, which is the area surrounding the city of Istanbul and its suburbs, which is world-famous.
• South of Marmara, and the region starts from the city of Bursa, the former Ottoman capital, in the east, to the coast of the Aegean Sea, which is full of Roman temples, in the west.

• Iznik, a historical city located on the coast of Iznik Lake, especially famous among the Christian world.
